『プラスチック貝塚』展ーリサイクルからの解脱ー

リサイクル化は、資源を再利用することで環境負荷を下げ、持続可能な社会を作り出すことが目的だ。同時に消費を減速させずに経済活動を維持することが目論まれていることも事実である。これによって、人類は多少は延命できるかもしれないが、そもそもこういった環境を巡る問題は、人間の意識が変わらない限り、何も変わらないと私には思える。愛らしいプラスチック・パッケージは、消費されれば即座に視界から消えていくものだが、それを「忘れられないもの」にするのが、この貝塚の役割である。それらをリサイクルの循環の外に置くこと、つまり、輪廻の循環から解脱させることが、このプロジェクトの究極の目標である。

The purpose of recycling is to realize a sustainable society by reusing resources and minimizing ecological footprint. At the same time, it also aims to maintain economic activity without slowing down consumption. While it may extend the lifespan of humanity for a little longer, I believe that the environmental issues will persist unless there is a fundamental change in our way of thinking. Once consumed, charming plastic packaging disappears from our sight immediately. However, this midden makes plastic packages ”unforgettable.“ The ultimate goal of this project is to dissociate these items from the cycle of recycling──or to liberate them from the cycle of reincarnation.
